Why do people need to do this? Live up to what YOU have accomplished in the service, whichever branch it may be and regardless of your MOS.

Personally, I'm a lifetime member of the SF Association. I served in two SF Groups for a total of 10 years and I loved it. I never ever once considered myself to be SF, "tabbed" or a "Green Beret". I did wear the green beret for a very brief period in 1992 when ALL personnel wore it, regardless of MOS. It was quickly changed later that year for support personnel to wear the maroon beret. To be honest, it did not feel right to wear something I did not earn and I'm glad they changed the policy.

Thoughts?

http://www.armytimes.com/article/20141001/OFFDUTY02/310010083/-Dual-Survival-star-stripped-SF-Association-membership Stolen Valor??? They continue to live the lie until they get caught. These stories are more and more common place and are pretty disgusting.

I prefer the stories about the guys that were heroes and know one knows it. Had a guy retire from federal service with almost 40 years combined GS/USMC service. His guys got him a shadow box for his retirement and his wife and kids never knew about the purple heart that he had received in Vietnam.
