My own personal belief is that a certain (manageable) amount of stress is a good thing. Keeps you 'on your toes' so to speak.
I realize others may feel differently, and I have seen some become totally ineffective due to stress.
Like many things in life, it effects different people in different ways, and individuals react differently to it. If under too much stress for too long, then I need to rebalance what I am trying to accomplish (easier said then done).

In short, stress is neither a driver not a stopper for me, it's just a reflection of hard I am pushing myself. Like when I have to get a job done and I'm up against a deadline. That's motivating stress.

Then, though, there's depressing stress that makes me want to go to sleep. Or, if I'm waking up to a stressful (usually weekend) day, just the thought of the stress that's coming can make me want to roll right over and just go back to sleep.

Normally when the stress is work related, it motivates me.
