I am not stuck in Alaska for my whole contract, but I am here for 2 more years. It is my first duty station and don't get me wrong I enjoy the state, quite scenic, and I love the outdoor activities. The -60 degrees is what pains me but I can suck it up. The issue is, if you get Alaska as a duty station, you stay here for 3 years minimum. My unit is disbanding come September next year so I am not sure if I can email branch and ask to get another assignment. If so do you think I can ask for airborne ?

Even if you do get airborne you can still end back up in Alaska. I believe 4/25 is airborne.

If you want to go airborne, then talk to your 1st line and let that person know your intentions. You go through the medical evaluation and wait for a class date. You don't have to schedule that through branch.

Check your requisitions tab in your ASK section. Check it every day until something comes up that you like then "apply" for it.
