SPC Private RallyPoint Member 721325 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've been in the guard for almost three years now... Trying to switch active did my 368 and got denied for only being with this unit for 7 months (was told I needed 9) after aquiring 10 months now I have two options. 1. Redo my 368 or 2. (Which was recommended by the active duty recruiters) tell my unit I'm moving to Washington State and request to be put in IRR. Which route would be faster? Switching Active From Guard. IRR or 368? Which is faster to do? 2015-06-04T00:17:32-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 721325 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I've been in the guard for almost three years now... If so, I would ask the unit you want to go to which one would get you there faster. Although from my experience, military paperwork always takes forever! Your IRR would be denied because you can easily do an interstate transfer. If they come back with some weird excuse, go to the leader above them as well as talk to IG. They will show you the policy and give you a straight answer Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 4 at 2015 10:54 AM 2015-06-04T10:54:10-04:00 2015-06-04T10:54:10-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 722325 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Hey shoot me an email, I was guard, reserve, got a 368 and went active so I might have some tips for you. Your state general has to release you. The IRR route will not help. Then redo the 368. It will have to go higher than your unit command so figure out your chain of command all the way up to the TAG so your active duty recruiters can keep the ball rolling on that side. Despite budget issues they should allow this if done properly and professionally. This way when you have a grievance to claim you have proof of receipt. If you don't know how to fill it out look at the form above it, all forms have an AR to refrende and show you how to fill it out correctly. Good luck, since rules change quickly on both ends. Going into the IRR - if for however briefly - exposes you to being picked up by whatever recruiter needs to fill a billet, and it may not be the one you want. Yah, I'd go the 368 route. When is your ETS date? Unless you have a VERY compelling reason for the state to let you go there is no way that they do this. There is a comment below that also said this. On the other hand if you do not ask, the answer is always no, so do the 368 route. The months have nothing to do with anything. Just because the reg says you CAN do something does not mean the TAG WILL do something. AD recruiters know this as well.
