My school was at my old duty station location, San Diego.

While still in California I kept California BAH and when I transferred to Hawaii I got their BAH.

When planning my PCS I packed/shipped my household goods probably 3 days before I transferred. It did take about a month for them to catch up with me in Hawaii. However I was able to get loaner furniture from the housing office in Hawaii. I was able to get into base housing right away.

I chose to live in base housing because I planned on getting a large breed dog and most places in town have size/weight restrictions for pets. That's another thing. If you plan on taking a pet with you to Hawaii make sure you read up on and understand Hawaii's animal quarantine laws before you ship them.

If you have any questions please let me know!
