This new system is harder for the soldiers that have been deployed multiple times. However we are moving out of that time and more into a garrison time fewer young soldiers will of had deployments. I think that once Solders have time to adjust to the new system it will work out just fine. Some Solders will feel some pain in the change. I am happy that there are more points for college now, but I am sad that they took away the deployment points completely. More knowledge you have the more you can teach someone else! But my question is this , why do they say we have no money for schools but want us to have that knowledge? In a wartime Army, well, we just need bodies to fill slots. Not as bad as in WWII or Korea when you had 20 year old Master Sergeants, but the GWOT Army has let the 90's standards slide just a teeny bit. I just think it is funny that people see this as a new thing when in fact it is a normal ebb and flow that can be traced back to the post WWII era. My MOS had ALC backlogs for years due to being a star MOS. Now our points are at 798, and according to the ACT tracker less than 8% of E-6s have ALC and less than 4% of E-5s. So now we have 92% of all E-6s that NEED to take ALC to retain their rank, as well as 96% of E-5s who have any interested in getting promoted. I just don't see how ALC for my MOS can support the amount of personnel that need to take the course with the current amount of class offerings. They will need to invest a lot more resources and personnel into NCOES to make this happen with any degree of efficiency. If anything these people could give the classes on the subject. My DI's were Vietnam vets and we learned a lot more from them then from a manual. SGT David A. Hell, they can't even get soldiers MOSQ. What the Army wants and gets are completely different. More time in schools means less time training, managing, working, and more time away from families. They have raised requirements every period between major operations, resulting in mass exodus and loss of experiential knowledge. With tensions so high in the world, the demand for war veterans sharing their knowledge is high. We are not in peace time.... Me bean 13 years in the Army must of my Point are max... but were i fail is Army Education... 14 pts. (10 CLS and 4 Generator Operator)... that is all. All Reserves and previous schools don't give promotion point any more.
