It will probably show up as a metric hurting a commanders oer if it is not resolved. the big problem is going to comtofrom fencing and poor soldir management. I know we're probably talking about e5/6 mostly but this is going to be a problem to start for current e7 and e8 without pme. It really comes down to self management as much as people don't want to believe it. NCOs should be fight tooth and nail to go to school which requires some action on their part...this means staying physically fit and being ready and willing with a short notice 4187. If a soldier can show they are attempting to do what is right within there realm of influence then they will be fine and it will work itself out. We've been through this in the past and made it through just fine. Ride the wave! Priority goes to those SGTs who could not go right before or during the deployment. Followed by those promotable IAW the new OML rules. Our NCOA worked directly with us to provide some extra slots upon redeployment to make up for the lack of eligible Soldiers.

With that said we still seem to be our own worst enemy for all NCOES. I say this because we brought Soldiers who should have not put the NCOES /PME on hold due to the deployment. The command just choose to prioritize over the Soldiers despite the fact we had a pool to choose from. NCOs have to speak up for themselves as well as being willing to provide some resistance - yes they will execute as directed but to many are willing to say no issues and defer their own PME. I don't see this in the Officer Corps unless directed and a plan on the backside with HRC. Finally we submit 4187s while deployed requesting slots on the backside for ALC & SLC.

With the new rules for deferment I don't think this will be as big as an issue. Who wants to go to the GO for a deferment.

CSM OB CSM Stuart C. O'Black Sat, 07 Nov 2015 09:14:32 -0500 2015-11-07T09:14:32-05:00 2015-11-05T09:15:53-05:00
