This is Charlie the Moose. I grew up with this moose in Alaska. Charlie became the neighborhood moose and was a constant source of trouble. He would wander into clotheslines and get in fights with tire swings. If it was hot out and you had a kiddy pool filled with water you were liable to find Charlie chilling in it. During the winter, Charlie would hang out under dryer vents enjoying the hot air. One day he fell asleep in my driveway and wouldn't move. I had to call in "moose" for work.

One day Charlie ate a bunch of fermented crab apples off the neighbor's tree and got rip-roaring drunk. A moose is stupid enough on its own without intoxicants. Charlie ended up getting in a fight with every fence in the neighborhood.

I left Alaska in 1996, but Charlie hung around for years after that. Don't know if he ever teamed up with a flying squirrel...

Okay, I have had many dogs over the years. My favorite was a Black Standard Poodle named Nobel, a real frisbee nut. When he died at 12 years old, he had no front teeth from all of his frisbee catches. But the best two are our current ones Bailey and Jagerschnitzel. Caution: do not get a mini Dachshund, especially the long haired ones, they are spoiled rotten heart stealers. Our white Standard poodle is 12 years old now and his friend keeps him young as they chase squirrels and rabbits together.

This was the best dog I ever called friend. I didn't "own" her, we were attached by a bond of love friend to friend. She would protect and watch over me while I slept, and I would sit next to her while she slept. The day she died had to be one of the top 5 toughest days in my life at that time. Her name was Princess but we all called her Princie, and she was a full blood beagle. I still miss her.

My American Bullrador (1/2 Bulldog, 1/2 Labrador) Shadow at Christmas Eve last year in Hawai'i ....

He should get an Army Ribbon or something, since he is my service dog and I received him on Active Duty. He has been great at letting me know when I am about to have a "moment" and he takes great care to place himself between me and whatever I am mad at. Great dog, really smart too.

Ok....so I have two "puppies."

My first was payback. I told my wife that I refused to let her have a dog (we lived in a place that did not allow pets at the time). Well, my punishment is a pomeranian runt who quickly became MY dog. She is the runt of a runt, so she is the size of a toy pomeranian and the best punishment I have ever received.

The next was agreed upon prior to her getting him. He is a german shepperd/shar pei mix, and he is ROWDY! She wanted a larger dog to feel safer when I am gone. He has quickly become a part of the family and has the most unimaginative name for an Engineer's dog: Dozer. It fits though.....he runs through everything.

Growing up in ranch country, I had a lot of animals I cared for... Horned Lizards, Garter Snakes, Bobcat, Wild Pigs, abandoned calves, horses, and a few goats. you name it, I made a pet out of it, and my parents allowed it, since there wasn't much company for me, unless the kids at the Dairy nearby had a chance to come swiming at the pond with me, so there wasn't any need for me to decide between cat or dog.
I have loved and appreciated both species, and we still have a cat and a herd of small dogs that came to us thru rescues. Its easier to live with the cats, because they do as they choose, while the dogs (Probably because they were abandoned, starving, and fearful) require a lot more attention and love, but each fills a space in our hearts and our home.

I love dogs I grew up with a Sheltie she was a great dog she used to heard us like cattle. We just recently put her to sleep last May on memorial weekend because she was 17 years old and headlines disease very bad and she couldn't control any of her Bowels or anything, everyone was sad. In 2009 I got myself a miniature Australian Shepherd and she's the best dog I've ever had. I call her Cassie my lassie.

This is my little girl, Zoey.. Due to many deployments, shiftwork, etc., she was given to my Mom "to watch"... 5 years later, I don't have the heart to take her back. :)

Mom now lives down the road in Naples, FL, so I get to see her more. It is really funny; my Mom spoils her, but when I come to visit every few weeks, I am still Zoey's Alpha. She follows me everywhere and sleeps on me like she did when she was a puppy. :')

Good ole` Boomer..... he has been the only one who cheers me up in the worst days. This guy is so loving, happy, and is always ready to play! Out of all pets I've either seen or had i've got to lay it out there.....He's by far the best dog or even pet so far that I've come across. This guy go everywhere with me.

Payton (named after Walter Payton) and Oliver. Rescued them from an abusive home in Hawaii when they were a few weeks old. I was stationed at Schofield Barracks at the time. They are friends of Capt Brandon Charters!

The two of our cats I brought home from Bahrain ten years ago. They're littermates/siblings who were born "wild" on the Navy base in Bahrain. I started feeding him after he practically mugged me for food when he was just a few weeks old. After a month or so he started bringing her around as well. After a couple more months I started trying to capture them to bring them home with me. It wasn't too hard to catch him, but it took several tries (and no small amount of blood) to catch her.

She' a black-on-brown tabby and he's a black-on-black tabby (you can see his stripes in strong sunlight).

We are Dog people, though a cat or two has adopted us along the years.
Nala on the top the youngest..Rescue as a puppy.
Dozer on the left watching me work in the shop. Rescue as an adult.
Sprocket on the right.. my unofficial therapy dog .. she knows the difference between an o'dark thirty bathroom call and a bad night wake up the first she stays on her bed, in the crate,, the second, she is by my side.. and she finds me and demands to be petted when Im upset, angry or even thinking about the same.. never had any training... but she knows.

Introducing Riley, newest member of my family. We adopted him Saturday from an animal shelter. Don't quite know his breed but we suspect he's part Lab, Catahoula, and Pitbull with possibly a smidgen of Border Collie. Smart, quiet and loves to snuggle.

This Is Sunny, my service dog. As you can see, he stresses over the smallest things and never relaxes! Not only does he help me with the things I can no longer do, he makes me laugh. He also loves the ladies!
