Yes & no.
Anyone in a position of Power can abuse said Power. ANYONE. It doesn't matter if it is a cop, a politician, the director or the CIA, or whoever.
Assuming that kids are the problem is just as much of a problem as assuming cops are the problem. I've seen as many videos showing cops in the wrong as kids in the wrong. Cops are human, and prone to mistakes just like any other segment of society.
All that said, we can't assume anyone in any of these situations was correct until we know the facts of the case. Half the time it will be one side screwing up. Half the time it will be the other.

Aye Sgt Aaron Kennedy. We used to call it the "Wyatt Earp Syndrome. Put that badge on and all of a sudden we're Johnny Law and you better listen. Didn't happen all the time, but it still was an issue to be watchful.

Not sure what you mean by real. The problem has many facets and all should be reviewed.

I was in Law enforcement for over 20 years. Ya, it was back in the 70s, 80s and early 90s. People use to have a great deal of respect for us, the authorities, and they had a strong sense of responsibilities and family values. Today, it's all up-side down. No one want to take responsibility for anything including their kids, and people are always blaming everything that happens on the schools, Police, and every other authority figure that is out there. We are all responsible for our own actions and we need to get back those family values that use to make a difference in our children's daily life. We got to wake up and stop blaming everybody else for our kids actions and get involved in what our children our doing. This "sink or swim" attitude just doesn't make it and we are seeing the consequences by seeing what is happening with our young people and many adults too. What's going on right now in our World and daily lives is not working and it is not acceptable. This bullshit attitude that my little Johnny or Suezy wouldn't do that is for the birds. We better wake up before it's too late and we loose it all. It really sucks the big one!

Sgt David G Duchesneau - Sergeant; I was tempted to give you a down vote for using "The 'R' Word" but decided against it.

I don't agree. Even if "entitlement" (whatever that means) and/or bad parenting (whoever decides what that is) lead to lawless youth, we are free as a people from police brutality. Failing in one's obligation to follow the law does not automatically entitle police to use excessive force, even if lawlessness is for some reason worse now than it has been in the past (which I doubt).

I've been a Sheriff Deputy for almost 20 years and I've never used excessive force on anyone and i've never tolerated anyone with to brutalize a suspect that was being arrested. I had the same standards when I was in the military as a Military Policeman. Our youth of today are suffering from a lack of parental supervision and we have a lot of young officers who need a little more supervision from their supervisors and parents needing to be taught how to parent and citizens of our great country taking responsibility for their actions and better supervise their children. Children don't chose their parents therefore, it's up to each parent to give them the skills to survive in todays world.

Major, I grew up in a small southern town where we never locked our doors, left the keys in the truck in case the neighbor needed to use it and children could play outside without parental supervision for from daylight till dark with no fear on the part of the parents of anything inappropriate happening. Now we have - school security officers that are armed, metal detectors kids have to pass through, mass killings of kindergarten age children in a nation having almost total bans on weapons.....if you cannot see that what you're progressive ilk have been selling for over 50 years is poisoning society, you are not even ready to begin a 12 step program to recovery.

Please reconsider your condescension CW3 Jim Norris. It is a non sequitur to say that because we have armed school guards today rather than decades ago means that police can engage in harsh, unreasonable seizures.
And drop the "progressive ilk" mudslinging. It gets old. The Founders were progressive and they believed in restrained law enforcement.

CW3 Jim Norris - Jim, I don't really understand what you were trying to say. I just believe that America is better off when the government fears its citizens, not when its citizens fears the government. An abuse of power is never justified.
