Really enjoy my dogs, but in my house we have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 hamsters, 6 birds, fish & a snake. I still vote for the dogs!

Got two of each. Ran out get some takeout today. Came back to a chewed up baby toy, chewed up pillow and trash removed from can. It wasn't a cat that did it.

Cats by a wide margin and come to think of it, I am allergic to dogs. I would send a picture of my cat but she is safely ensconced in a fan box. I don't know why the affinity for boxes but that is part of the appeal of a cat.

I have a dog. Love him. But I have always been a car person as well. Don't currently have one. Made a change and bought a ferret. Which is like a cat. Or something. Not quite sure what to think of him. He's so random.

Cats are independent and I always considered myself a cat person until I got my pug, Boba. Boba is truly the greatest pet I have ever had! When I'm sick he sits on my feet as I vomit. He loves my babies and hates my wife lol! He taught my son to crawl and is my hairy prince.

I use to have Yorkies when I was younger, but now I have a cat. Cats are independent little critters that you don't have to take for a walk. They usually ignore you until they want food or to be petted. When Miss Kitty sees me reading, that's when she wants to be petted.

Dog of course. Cats are lazy and you can do almost anything with a dog. They are always happy and ready to have fun. (provided, you have a breed of dog with those attributes)

On dismounted patrol while deployed, I'll take a dog any day. At home, however, cats for the win. Dogs are too needy, and never leave you alone. Cats are like me. They come around occasionally to say hi and eat, then they go back and chill by themselves. The perfect pet!

Hands Down Dogs. I would rather leave my family in a deployment with a descent sized loyal dog to watch over them than a cat. not many people generate a fear at the sight of a cat. Dogs are loud, loyal, and territory. If a strange presence enters its known territory It is aware and either attacks or lets the Alpha (the owner) know of the intrusion. My wife and I are planing to get a dog. Plus Dogs are very Therapeutic. Soldiers and Vets with PTSD have been given or adopted dogs to help them cope. I have PTSD (and I am treated for it) and visiting my family on leave at times I wake up from nightmares to see the Family dog just sitting there with big black eyes whimpering out of concern. Petting her calmed me down every time. How many cats do that? Most of the time they come around for dinner and then they leave to go bat something fragile off a high shelf

I hate to say it, cats. throw them some food they are much low maintenance. If they come near you, check the bowl. my dog barks all the time, he squeaks like a little baby, always demanding attention, when it rains the dumbass stands at the door and whines instead of going under the shed. when he gets the chance he leaves the yard and runs around the neighborhood like an idiot.

I have to vote Dog on this one. Although my Shih-Tzu acts like a cat a times. LOL There is nothing more loyal than a dog. They will be by your side always. Cats are more independent.
