Theft of Flag - Just a misdemeanor? 2015-05-24T10:49:44-04:00 2015-05-24T10:49:44-04:00 Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS 692416

It's not "just" a misdemeanor, but it is a misdemeanor, because of the 'dollar' value of the item stolen, rather than the 'total' value.

Although the circumstances are special, that doesn't make them legally significant.

We have to separate emotion from the crime. The crime is a theft of an item, with a low dollar value, which makes it a misdemeanor.
