Sure I would, though its a mostly hollow gesture i'd think as neither of those two things are an economical savings.

Only if that veteran is medically retired, otherwise no. Those benefits are rightly reserved for retired veterans.

Typical. Authorize something with no provision to expand the service so the lines get ever longer. Also no provision to bump up resources for base access, different CAC card?, who knows. Always a shallow political stunt with no real effort to do something meaningful to fix the VA. I'm tired of the window dressing crapola in DC.

Yeah, I'm good without it. The drive to the local base is about an hour, and I do most of my shopping online anyway. I wouldn't mind replacing some of my lost Air Force civilian wear, though... but I can just hit up the local surplus shop if I really want to.

Why would they want to? Prices at AAFES and the Commissary are outrageous. Only time I shop the PX is for "Big Ticket" items and sometimes not even then. The local grocery stores are much more affordable for us than the Commissary. I've learned over the years I don't have to have "Name Brand" everything.

All vets now have access to online exchange shopping. As SSG Ryan R says, the PX doesn't save you much even with the sales tax savings. With Amazon you can get much better deals. Commissary saves a bit, but stores like Foodmax in California are comparable. There is no question that all our vets especially disabled vets deserve a lot more than what they get; the only thing i might examine here is the hassle of more crowds and maybe need to hire more clerks at the stores and perhaps more security at the base gates, for what is only a hollow, marginal benefit.

This would somehow diminish the value of Exchange and Commissary privileges that those vets who hung in there and actually retired have, in my mind. I agree with all the comments that the value of these privileges is probably not worth the bureaucracy that would be needed to establish it. I rarely use the Exchange or Commissary but when I do it is because I am on base for medical appointments. Perhaps authorizing this group access to the military healthcare system would be of more value to them.

SGT C Mendezl I already have an I.D. which allows me in any commissary in the USA. I received it 16 years ago after my 100% disability.

Used to be a good deal to go to the commissary out at Ellington AFB. It's not now. Overpriced everything. When I was a kid I would go bowling, and buy cokes and candy at the commissary. My dad worked at the post office before he got out of the Army. My privilege card is pretty much useless. All the discount stores are a lot cheaper, and I like the 10% discount at some stores.

I would support any Honorably discharged veteran be permitted access. More shoppers... means better competition and possibly lower prices.

I live about 30 minutes from the px and commersery I hate it because everything is so much more then wall mart. so u don t pay sales tax big deal I looked at a simple frying pan in tj max it was 10 dollars and the px it was 34.95. remember the px is not ruined by the gov its a private concern also the calf is the same thing u can go to Burger King and eat like a king for less money a small drink is 1.75 the dish of the day is any were from 5 to 10 dollars. I just do not understand when I was in the army I bought a seiko watch for 25 dollars smokes were 200 a carton plus with jump and sp forces py I made 499 a month which was minus wife that is what the military is about getting. people for get they Make there money when they retire after getting 20 years of life missing kids birthday anniversary, graduations family things reunions etc. and usually a bitter attitude to the world and no one like them its up to u to have it fixed????4th shops gp apo 96307
