I read up here before where one of our brothers was harassed by a person who didn't think he was handicap and shouldn't be parking in handicap parking.
Well this has also happened to me a couple of weeks ago. This person didn't know me from Adam and saw me getting in my car and said what are you doing parking in handicap parking your not handicap.
Well I told him I might look perfectly normal but I'm not I've done more in my life than you can think of doing and my body is tore up. Well we got to know each other and are acquaintance now and he apologized to me for what he said. He didn't know I was a disabled veteran and once he found out he thanked me.
People look at us and judge us by how we look.
I flew to Idaho this past week to visit with my children. It took me 40 minutes to get thru security which was a headache. I went to the front the line but with all the medal in my body and a feeding tube. I have to go thru a little more. I had on my Army Veterans hat. I had one young man come up and think me and that was the most genuine thank you I've felt. He had to be high school age and he saw me sitting there and just came up and thanked me.
I just wanted to share these story's with my family up here.

I understand what you are saying and think it's awesome that you got a great acquaintance from it, but the point should still be that you shouldn't have to convince anyone that you are "handicapped", and what is it that gives anyone the right to challenge it? If there is an issue, then let the proper authorities handle it... Then again, maybe I'm too much into this...

Look before you leap in many cases. If a person has a valid handicapped parking permit then there is a reason for it. In many cases the disability may not be obvious such as a limp or a visible prosthetic limb. If people don't have enough to do then to go after people with disabilities then they need lives. My dad has a prosthetic leg. After a few years with it, with pants on at first glance you wouldn't know it by his walk unless he's having some phantom pains which he still does on occasion. No one in that position should have to explain themselves to ANYONE.

Did you have a handicap placard hanging in your vehicle, or license plates indicating you are handicapped?

lol you would imagine a prudent person to look at the license plate or a placard. I yell at handicapped folks parking in the regular spots lol
