It is a terrible commentary on the state of this once great nation that the government is trying to control what people say.
I understand that there is a fine line between freedom of expression, and implyed government support of an activity. Still the government should protect freedom rather than threaten termination should a person embarass them.
From what I gather in this article, The government is fine with a person having their government job in a bio, they are just not fine with an individual talking about it. I can understand in certain instances. You wouldn't want a member of a SEAL team posting on FACEBOOK Something like "Going back to the big beach, ISIL is toast!" just before going on an operation in the middle east. You wouldn't want a member of the Secret Service going on "F*CK going to miss grandma's birthday going to Russia" just before an unannounced presidential trip (Which seems to be the only thing they haven't screwed up lately). However, a Marine at Camp Pendelton going on to celebrate getting through boot camp posting a pictures in his uniform hardly compromises the integrity of the government. Neither does that same Marine going on SOcial Media and posting a request for donation to Toys For Tots.

The government has become such a bloated beached whale that they are trying to cover the stink in any way they can. The problem is that instead of applying old rules to new technology, they need to be looking at scrapping outdated policies, and creating policies that apply to the modern age.
