Ok, Chief, I'll bite. Your last statement says it all. It absolutely is an individuals right and responsibility. The state (law enforcement) will arrive just in time to draw the chalk outline around your remains and start the clean-up process.

In Gonzales v. Castle Rock, the US Supreme Court held the "police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm"

I totally agree... People should be allowed to play a stronger physical role in their own safety and protection in these so called "gun-free zones" if the reasonable assumption and expectation of protection cannot be met or guaranteed by state/city/county owned "good weapons" protecting these areas; otherwise, these zones only serve to become a congregating place for people to unwillingly be slaughtered with no way to defend themselves against a gunman breaking the rules. The Sheriff is on point.

When you think about it, shooters have been targeting gun free zones a lot. Instead of wanting to ban guns they should be informing people on safety and proper use. An armed population is not where you want to go shooting at people.

The Sheriff isn't wrong. The LE can't be everywhere and takes time for them to respond. The perpetrator won't wait to be caught - I know I wouldn't want to be.

Gee you put up a sign that says "Gun Free" and just how many deranged, upset, P.O'd armed folks with vengeance on their mind did you stop? I mean the fact that what they are planning/bent on during is illegal, and the Feds are suppose to add 7 mandatory years to your conviction for using a gun- hasn't stoped an of these folks yet has it.

You guys are missing one important point about GUN FREE ZONES...

They are GUN FREE ZONES, not because they want to keep criminals out, they are gun free zones because they want to keep MORONS that want to tote an AR15 around to show off their 2nd amendment rights from ACCIDENTALLY BLOWING AWAY A 6 YEAR OLD!!!!!!!! (it's a safety thing people)

It's a safety law to cut down on accidental discharges. It's to stop law abiding citizens from killing our kids by means of accidental discharge, not criminals!!!!

And to be clear, more mass shootings are perpetrated OUTSIDE OF GUN FREE ZONES, than within.

I don't know you, why would I want you around my grandchildren armed. Once upon a time we had an Assault Weapons Ban. It was not repealed, it expired. It could be brought back without any Constitutional Amendment as long as it is identical. It details the weapons and accessories banned, turn in procedure. penalties for violation and it has been to court.

Has this toad even read the gun free zone. The act prevents “unauthorized” weapons not weapons.
The school had armed guard in Florida. Everybody is a hero saying if I was there I would have acted because a I carry my courage on me all the time. Courage was those teachers who protected the children not those who say if I was there bullshit.
Guns were invented to kill and nothing else!
