I think it provides a needed alternative to the standard channels for getting things done. If it wasn't necessarily, it wouldn't be effective - but it is.

Good question; i don't like them because the humor is lost to a civilian in that it present a poor image of my blessed Army. We all make mistakes which in the military is a lesson learned, not to repeat. Some of the WTF stuff is embarrassing and some has the "what just happened" factor. I would like the captions explained if anything. Some of the moment can't be avoided such as a tank or Humvee getting stuck in muck. I know my time in mechanized infantry, we had all kinds of moments both in a Vietnam, Germany and Fort Polk. Opinions vary......

Absolutely essential. US Army WTF moments is basically just a branch of the IG that doesn't have to worry about politics or hurt feelings. And unlike IG, people actually listen to and care about what US Army WTF moments has to say.

Since the vast majority of the USA personnel cannot be trusted to uphold the Army Values, especially including "Personal Integrity" then the Fourth Estate HAS to keep us honest. If you have not done anything wrong, you have nothing to fear from the press. It is only the immoral A-holes like my former PSGT that have anything to fear.

I think it’s hilarious, some of the content may not present the greatest image but I think it does more good than harm. It also love their running joke that SMA Daley was the admin.

At one of my duty stations, antics of a sister battalion were often featured on that page. The commander tried to bring up the Soldiers on disciplinary action when they were found but I believe it all fell through. The leadership environment was quite toxic and improved greatly when they were getting exposure. Not really an advocate is going outside of Army systems to solve problems, but I have to admit that it can be effective.

For each of the posts that end up with horribly misogynist or dependa comments, there are ten that renew my respect for how Soldiers support each other. I roll my eyes a *lot*, but they do amazing things to help Soldiers/families that really need it.
