Time frame for separation after failing APFT?

Hey everyone I’ve been in for 3 years and I’ve failed my last 2 pt test I’m not asking for sympathy or any of that crap just curious of how long the typical chapter process takes for this type of thing so I can plan accordingly

The timing will all vary on how fast your unit moves. I've seen some pushed very fast and others take more than 6 months.

I once asked this very question to the USARC G1 DCG. The answer I got was that there is no set standard for time. Some packets could be processed in as little as 4 months to as long as 2 years. All depends on how locked and cocked the packet is and how fast people can review/process it.

Failing pt teat is not an automatic get out of the military. It can be quick or your ets may come first. What drives those would be unit strength or shortages. They have more options available. It's called remedial pt. You could be put on extra duty to help you pass your AFPT.

On the little info you gave out in your post- it really depends on your Command. If your leaders like you, they might try and put you into remedial PT and let you take the APFT again. If the Command doesn't like you- they may put a Chapter paperwork together & get you out quickly in a couple months.

Yes- the regulation says 2 Failures & your out, but there can be some mitigating factors as well- like if they gave you a long enough remedial time between failures. You may have not even be counseled after your failures, which has to be done before the Chapter is approved I believe.

Where you injured in some way & did not get a temporary profile? If you were injured- they have to give you a couple of months for rehab time & to get ready for the APFT.

Quick question for you SPC D R., Why do you want to throw away those 3 long but short years that you invested? You don't want to leave the Army on a bullshyt chapter....... I take you are like myself and some other Soldiers that struggle on the run....... only thing I can recommend or suggest to prolong your career is to go see podiatrist to check feet and get profile to do alternate walking event........

Depends on your command and how fast they want it done as well as the type of chapter as well as any appeals or legal proceedings that in the works already.
