Based on their importance to the Army (during tenure or thereafter), how would you rank the Army's top NCO and why?

If you're already familiar with military history, you may be able to name your 'Top 5' without hesitation.

If you are not familiar with military history, do a little research and post your 'Top 5' list.

Looking forward to reviewing your list.

MSG Quick,

The only one under which I've served is SMA Chandler III, so my list is based on research rather than experience.

1)  SMA Raymond F. Chandler III

2)  SMA Jack L. Tilley, who led the Army through the first invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq after 9/11

3)  SMA William A. Connelly, who developed the regulation for the NCODP and removed the Spec ranks

4)  SMA Kenneth O. Preston, who revamped our promotion process and established the WLC and SSD courses

5)  SMA George W. Dunaway, former Screaming Eagle, who helped developed the NCOES
