Top 5 organizations for veterans that are worth investing your time and money to join? How do you choose wisely?

There are literally at least 130 - plus originations for veterans to join.
How do you distinguish who’s – who? Example the VFW / DAV seem to have a good reputation.

PO3 Ellsworth Allen Westgate I choose to give to the person in need, directly......I have little to give, but what i have, is needed at the local level, no need to give it to an organization for distribution after taking the requisites 10, 20, 80% off the top for "operating costs" before handing the Vet $25 of the $100 I had to give.

The American Legion, the VFW, and the DAV. Don't need to find two more. I'm a Life Member in those three, and believe that no other organizations are MORE involved in the lives of the military than these.

Past Commander of the VFW, I got that covered. My Son-in-Law is DAV, got that covered. I don't remember if I paid this years dues for American Legion. Used to enjoy going to the Navy League Breakfasts. I used to belong to the Old Crows and NCVA.

This who assist Vets at the Tucson VA the American Legion moved out " don't confuse that that there not helpful" I like the Legion but there membership fees started me looking into other Veteran Originations. Piece of advice given to me if you Belong to VFW you belong to them all , because the VFW has the strictest membership app " do know for sure" that's why I post this stuff!

I belong to the American Legion and MOAA, hubby to VFW. Considering the DAV.

Life member of VFW, DAZv, VVA (has the strictest membership qualifications), and the Amvets (has the most lax qualifications). I quit the American Legion because they constantly beg you for money. They and the Amvets are also the easiest to join.
