Prove it, that the award was authorized which I doubt. It might have been a recommendation, but don't think anything came from it. If you have/know someone who got the award, ask to see the orders, so you can see the issuing Command. Then ask that command who was authorized, Your unit may not have been authorized or didn't want to do it. I have seen BN/Bde commanders to refuse to authorize CIB's just because the unit was at JOTC/Canal Zone and saw lil fighting. Upon our return to CONUS, our CG (Commanding General) asked me what Super Bowl I earned my ring in! I explained that my Commander (and now his Chief of Staff) would not approve of any CABS (because he was a FOBIT and did not get one!) Therefore, I designed and purchased three (3) rings with the schrapnel that went into our vehicle and gave them to my NCOs to give to their kids one day. I had a satellite photo of the attack and the CG awarded us the CABs on the spot.
Seriously, the pool in Arifjan? I stopped through there and never saw one, but if I did I would've pissed in it and gladly taken the Article 15!!!!! Grow up PX-Ranger!!!! Agent Orange, the 60' thru 80's exposure plane external cleaner. There are several other places and substances that won't be known until we die in some cases. Camp Lejeune toxic drinking water, El Toro airbase that ended up being a super fund toxic site.
