I am attending an advanced SL 3 course in a TDY status. The company that I am attached to here is in charge of AIT Soldiers and training them in the SL 1 course of my job. I and my fellow NCO's are being instructed to help the AIT Platoon Sergeants with PT. We are expected to help instruct and fix deficiencies among AIT students. I dont think this is our lane or a task that we should be made to fill. I would appreciate any information that could be used to resolve this issue. To further expand I am here with 3 SM from my unit. To clarify I am here with 3 other Soldiers from my unit. Currently I am not able to work out with them because I am with the IET Soldiers.
I am listing the regulation below that I feel supports our case.
Tradoc Regulation 350-6 20 March 2017
Pg 66
4-13. Reclassified/MOS trained/prior service Soldiers a. Reclassified/MOS trained and prior service Soldiers are those individuals, in any grade, who have previously completed IET and are attending skill level 1 training in IET units as a result of reclassification or enlistment actions. Reclassified and prior service Soldiers are not considered IET Soldiers; however, they are assigned to IET units. This definition does not apply to those Soldiers who failed to complete the requirements for the award of a MOS as part of the initial IET process. Reclassified and prior service Soldiers must meet all course requirements for graduation (APFT, etc.) and are subject to IET policies, unless otherwise stipulated in this regulation
(2) Prior service NCOs in training may assist with IET Soldiers with regular cadre oversight after appropriate orientation and certification by the unit commander/first sergeant on TRADOC policy regarding leadership and treatment of IET Soldiers.

Maybe I’m missing the entire point of your post - but to me this seems extremely simple. The Company is tasking NCOs that are attached to the unit to assist in training their Junior Soldiers in PT, during PRT hours. NCOs train Soldiers, if this isn’t prohibiting you completing your course, why not assist the Company during PT. Again, I may be missing the point of the post, and if so - I apologize, but this seems like a non-issue - for me atleast.
Para 2 of the quoted TRADOC Ragulation smashes your argument. The company leadership asks you (actually they are ordering you in a profesional manner) to take your role as a leader of Soldiers. Hmm, I’ve heard the before: Leader Of Soldiers... The NCO Creed!

I believe it supports me. According to paragraph one I am not prior service, reclassed or MOS trained SM. I could only be one of those if i met the requirements and I dont.
MAJ Javier Rivera
SSG Timothy Holland Not sure if things changed in the last 2 years since I retired but anyone with such personality would definitely have a reflection on his/her DA 1059. Just a word of caution.
So is your beef that you can't do PT with the folks from your unit that are there, or is it assisting the training cadre with the 10 level troops?
In any case, generally as long as you have the briefing on the TRADOC interaction with trainees briefing and the commander deems you certified then they certainly can have you HELP with training in things like PT and especially in the manner you describe.
I don't recall having the ability to work out with my buddies from my parent unit that were on post for other training while attending NCOES or other skills training courses during PT hours but rather was at the mercy of the cadre and command structure of that course.
As an aside, it would take less than a day to draft and staff a policy memo as a 1SG or CSM for the Commander to make this a bonified tasking as the PT portion of the POIs give Commanders a lot of leeway of what is done and is about the only portion that isn't absolutely driven top down.
My humble opinion and advice would be to assist in the physical training of the fine young Americans you will soon be in charge of in your line units as asked / tasked. Coordinate to do PT with your companions from your parent unit after hours on your free time.
