Transferring from drilling guardsman to IRR with time left on contract? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/transferring-from-drilling-guardsman-to-irr-with-time-left-on-contract <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Who would a POC to transfer from drilling guardsman to IRR in the Louisiana National Guard and is it even possible? I have 3 years TIS and 3 years left on contract. I just started a federal civilian job and have been told by other reservist coworkers that it is a good thing to look into so that I can focus on my career progression/probationary requirements for my new federal job. However, be advised that if you are a first termer....the IRR is only for the 2 years portion of your 6x2. You may have to come back to finish up the active time when IRR time is done. Again, speak with your Retention NCO for clarification. If you want to pursue this make sure you do it for you and what you want instead of what some rando told you. Sounds like you need to talk to your Leadership and retention NCO to review your options. What unit are you in if you don’t mind me asking? SSG Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 01 Jul 2020 16:37:57 -0400 2020-07-01T16:37:57-04:00 2020-07-01T14:34:23-04:00
