What does the process look like for this as an officer? Could I also pick and choose what unit i want to go to or is it purely based on slot availability? Does the reserves have more opportunities to go to schools? What does the process look like to switch from NG to the Reserves? Can I pick my unit and will I have more schooling opportunities? 2025-12-22T08:04:42-05:00 2LT(P) Private RallyPoint Member 9054132 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I&#39;ve been a 2LT for almost 3 years because of fedrec and I&#39;d like to switch to the reserves when my 6 year service obligation is up. You may have to be willing to travel to take advantage of the multi state positions. Other than that, you will need a conditional release signed off by the first General in your chain, or the AG in a lot of states. You do not have to wait for the end of your service obligation.
