Isn't this a requirement? I've been retired for 6 years now, but as a Chief Petty Officer, we required our separating Sailors to attend TAP at least a year out from their EAOS. The only time they didn't, was if we were shipboard and deployed.

If they are within a year of separation, and haven't decided to leave or stay, we'd still make them go, just to make sure they received the tools and resources to transition. If they reenlisted; no harm, no foul and they got to miss a week of work.

Today, more than ever we have companies that specialize in Military recruitment of Veterans. Veterans also, should seek them out,because they are favorable to and for Veterans.

Our culture has not totally immersed of our general population of the intangibles that Veterans bring to the table. More people are becoming aware but we still have a long way to go. Another factor today. that less than one percent of our population serves our mitary. This combined with the factor than our youth remains populated with those at high levels of not being physically fit nor able to pass the ASVAB for admittance in our Armed Forces.

Soldiers shown embrace what they can learn whenesving the military. Some folks may think they should get hired based on their military service. But in reality you must know yourself and what skills knowledge and attributes you bring to the table.So you must know how to articulate this in engaging with prospective employers and speak their language.
