Hero of the Day: Kentucky police officer John Nissen!
He went above and beyond for a grief stricken driver named Barbie Henderson.
While driving, Barbie got word of her sister's death and pulled over to the side of the road. She was too distraught to drive and didn't know what to do so she called 911.
That's when officer Nissen came on the scene and asked if he could sit and talk with her.
Nissen says: "I turned the air vents towards her – it was over 90 degrees that day – held her hand, and she cried on my shoulder. I had her take sips of water."
He stayed with her for an hour until another family member could come and get her home safely.
When Barbie's other sister, Shonda, arrived, she was so amazed by the officer's kindness that she took a photo of the two and sent it to the Hillview Kentucky Police Facebook Page.
She wrote:
"Officer Nissen was more than an officer yesterday. He was a person with a heart to understand this was a lady who just lost her sister. From there on he took care of my sister … What an awesome guy!!!!"

IT is a great story. Why can't we see more like this. We have rotten apples everywhere... But this was awesome. Why can't we hear more stuff about what inspires people? Get a uplift today. Go give him a thumbs up!

SGT Private RallyPoint Member This is great post and story. There are good people in this world (hundreds of them), but the news can't report all the good news stories because that doesn't sell news! Its a shame, because this kind of stuff goes on all the time, but we only read and hear about the bad. What is wrong with good news stories! Maybe we should have a new cable channel that plays nothing but the good stuff! "The Good News Channel!"

Oh honey, you didn't know? This story wouldn't cause hate and separation between the American people, no way it could possibly be broadcasted all over the media, no no!

It's a beautiful story. If we had more compassionate people who were willing to help one another America wouldn't be in the place that it is now.

What a GREAT story, SGT Private RallyPoint Member!! Thank you for sharing it with us. There are lots of good Samaritan stories like this out there. They're usually on something like Facebook (source of this one).

I think we don't get more of these sorts of stories because they don't "sell." Sure, there's an appeal for a few minutes, but it doesn't cause thousands to take to the streets in protest. The old saying that "death sells" is what the networks and cable news networks operate on. This cop didn't shoot the woman, so it's not newsworthy.

No headlines to be made. Cops have an impossible job. Take the .05% of the force and focus on that. I see cops busting their butt in this crazy heat only to hear people scream 'f'n pigs!' by young punks. You couldn't pay me enough.
