I am learning about the FSBP and had a few questions. Is there anywhere in black and white that states you cant move a SM for convenience? We are coming back from a deployment and they are placing four SM in a different barracks in a different footprint because ours are at capacity, but they stated that in two months they should have room and will immediately move the SM back over. I believe that is a question of QOL(quality of life), the Soldiers do not mind the other barracks as they are nicer, and would prefer to stay over there. I have dove in to AR 420-1 and cannot seem to get a clear answer on it, any help?

This type of thing happens before and after deployments. When you have so many bodies shuffling it takes a little time to get things orderly as intended. If the barracks are at capacity there aren't many options. Being moved into a permanent barracks after two months isn't really a QOL issue unless there is a health or safety issue some where in there like mold.

In Korea, specifically Camp Humphreys, units try to keep their Soldiers in the same barracks, and for smaller units, on the same floor. This makes locating people easier, as well as such things as assigning barracks/floor clean-up rosters, Floor Sergeant responsibilities, etc. Having each unit in a separate barracks can also lead to having pride in where you live, which can lead to cleaner and better maintained barracks.

Don't fight this. This is not the hill to die upon.

I’ll be succinct:

Can they move you? Yes. Will they do it for pleasure? No.

Leadership manage barracks space and personnel assigned to them according to capacity, health and welfare, and operational conditions; e.g. deploying, redeploying, etc... The fact that you like a building more than other will never be taken in consideration.
