(USAF) Do I still wear my current units patches until my gaining unit gives me new ones. Or do you just roll slick sleeve?

Current unit is a bit of a flex when I go to my new base and I know a lot of guys there. It’s just to joke around. But am I gonna get smoked for some stupid reg?

Why do you need to wait until the unit provides patches? I would imagine they are sold at clothing and sales.

Roll up as is and get one issued from supply (depending on your new unit it may not be in MCSS as is the case with my current joint unit) or try to look all highspeed and pick one up from clothing and sales. Either way, I genuinely don't think anybody will say anything, and S4/J4 should give you whatever you need either way (patch, unit awards, pt belt, unique uniform, get cetera). Either way, good luck at your new unit!

SSgt Private RallyPoint Member Just remove the previous unit patches. If anyone comments, hold your hand out and tell them to give you the new patch for you to sew-on - or are they Velcro?

I'm of the line of thinking of being ahead of the curve and buying the patch if it is known to you. Even better would being proactive enough to reach out to the supply NCO of your new unit and ask for one.

No one should really freak out if the new guy doesn't show up with one.

Leadership might notice if the new guys does already have one.

Something to consider.............

Chances are getting the free issued one is lower if you show up with them already.

I'd still wear my current unit patch myself. Leadership will square you away real quick lol you may get smoked, but at least they will know that you're probably pretty knowledgeable in your field. And not just some random Joe.

I have dealt when this when I PCSed. I wanted until I was officially assigned to the unit. I am not use but I would tend to believe the AF is like the Army. You will wear your current unit patches until you are assigned to a unit. When I went from Benning to Bragg. I had to wait till I found out what battalion I was going to so I could buy a unit flash for my beret. Once I found out I went ahead and got one. I showed up with the right patches. It looks good to have the initiative to do this.
