This is mostly for the career counselors out their or anyone that may have input for that matter. I am currently at school and cannot get a hold of my career counselor (he is in the middle of ACAP and is hard to get a hold of) just so you all know. I am currently about five months from being able to reenlist (This is my first reenlistment in Active Duty by the way) so the question I have is for the reenlistment option E-3 (Army Training Reenlistment Option) I am a 12N2O and I was wondering can I choose only from a certain list of ASI or SQI producing schools and if so what are they. I was hoping to get a chance to go to well driller (ASI C3) I was wondering what my chances of attending that course is and if theirs a list dependent on MOS what is that list, Any helpful input would be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

If you're looking to reenlist for an ASI, the ASI must be associated with your MOS.

MSG Quick, Well driller is a ASI associated with my MOS, between that and crane operator those are the only two ASIs that fall directly under my MOS (on ACT at least) that are Engineer related. also as soon as im done with the school that im in, I plan on enrolling in college to obtain a degree in civil engineering with a back ground in petroleum, I figured in the long run with previous experience in well drilling (even though a much smaller scale with the C3 ASI) would help me with that aspect. Also it increases the possibility of being selected to be able to help out on humanitarian missions to drill wells for the less fortunate in third world countries (Which in turn converts to good karma points. If you believe in that kind of stuff)

SGT Laurence,

You mentioned that you are a 12N which according to the In/Out call (available from http://www.armyreenlistment.com/board.html) is over-strength. This may be a problem for you as it limits your options. The strengths of the requested ASI will also come into play (I am not saying it is impossible). Available class dates and your time on station are also considerations.

Check DA PAM 611-21 to research MOS, ASI and SQI.

Have you considered reclassing? Prime Power Specialist in in your CMF and is an application MOS that provides a great skill.

Additionally, your post should have a retention office that would be of better assistance.

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions.
