Utah Lawmakers pass law authorizing death by firing squad

Salt Lake City Utah, lawmakers pass a law that says a person sentenced to death can be executed by firing squad when their is a shortage of drugs for lethal injections. I thought it was a good way to start the morning though.

I wish they'd fast track it when involves children especially. TELEVISED PAY PER VIEW. I believe these predators would think twice when they saw it. IT needs to be this harsh. We've gotten too PC just letting them fall asleep and not wake up. Just gross.

9mm JHP to the back of the head: about $.50 and pretty much surefire that the person is not going to survive. If they do, spend the rest of the dollar.

While I do like the idea of removing especially bad criminals from the gene pool and ensuring they can never harm anyone again, I am also adverse to the idea of the government having the power to take someone's life.

Murder is considered a crime by just about any standard within our country, so why would we allow a group that already has too much power to be allowed to justifiably do it?

I am at a loss as to a better solution because paying $35K+ a year for an inmate is also unacceptable.

I am for it... although, if our current administration has anything to say about "ammo" the cost benefit analysis might start to creep up a little...

Although I believe the Death Penalty should exist. I doubt whether our Government is trustworthy enough to have the power.

There are some monsters that need to be put down. Some that have proven they cannot be part of society. That said, the penalty is not there to serve out revenge, but Justice. The method should be Humane, lest we become the monsters we fight.

I cannot in good faith say that a firing squad is a humane method.

For those who say the criminals don't deserve a humane death, we don't do it for them. We do it for us. We kill only as a matter of necessity, not for the pleasure of it. For that is the line between Justice and Revenge.

It may be time to start a company to outsource a firing squad to service prisons who have inmates slated for death.
