I did this back in 2013 after my last AFG trip. Was finally called in for a check-up in 2016. Chest xRay, labs and a pulmonary test. I had kept my med records of issues both overseas and back here. Result was 30% service connected asthma.

I registered but haven't heard anything one way or the other from the VA. I wonder if right now it's more of a research period.
