I find many providers still have limited knowledge specific to my needs. As an older veteran, I still need support for gyn health and hormone issues. Also, having mental health issues, I was too drugged for over 15 years to be aware of what was lacking for me. I have severe osteoporosis, worse in my spine. I was being given tums and vitamin D for bone health. My BDS's was faxed in. No record in my file. It's been over a 5 year period when i had a total hip replacement and I needed proof before I was given Fosamax. I'm 73, was misdiagnosed 20 years ago as psychotic, just now learning about CPTSD. In 2014 I was told it was an accepted mental health diagnosis. My records prove the diagnosis since 1990 till today yet I wasn't aware to understand why I had these behaviors. The VRC program out of Dallas has given me insight, treatment and support. These two problems for women, physical and mental health, need constant focus to educate the differences between male and female bodies. Being shoved aside has gone on far to long. Thank youResponse by MSG Brenda Neal made Mar 22 at 2025 8:37 PM2025-03-22T20:37:11-04:002025-03-22T20:37:11-04:00Sgt Carolyn Carter8963046<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have been receiving services through the VA Healthcare System since 1993, and exclusively through the VA since retiring in 2014. I turn 65 later this year which means I have to consider signing up for Medicare. I do not have a service-connected disability/rating but from all indication through my preliminary research on the subject, it would be in my best interest to sign up for Medicare as if the VA starts cutting its patient roles, I'm in a "priority group" that would be first to let go. Needless to say I will be enrolling in Medicare in the event this happens under the current administration or in the future. In my situation, how does Medicare coordinate with my VA health care benefits? I do understand I can still utilize the VA for health care with no problem and there is no coordination of benefits with Medicare.Response by Sgt Carolyn Carter made Mar 23 at 2025 3:45 PM2025-03-23T15:45:26-04:002025-03-23T15:45:26-04:00PO3 Elizabeth Leone Knight8963373<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Discharged in 1978, and never tapped into any benefits.
