Jody Mitchell has a hearing impairment and PTSD from her time serving in the U.S. Army. On top of that, a civilian injury to her head has impacted her mobility. Her service dog Ella helps make life a little easier.

The civilian in me says "How outrageous! That soldier's hurt. Let her in!!"

The veteran in me says "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRR!"

The libertarian in me says, "Well, that sucks. I guess they don't get her business. But it is their store."

I think the libertarian is right.

SPC (Join to see), as a fellow civilian/veteran/Libertarian I agree. I want to lead a fire mission on the salon while at the same time as a Libertarian I want to encourage that whole town not to patronize the salon in hopes that they go out of business!

I have no idea. I was a CPL, and only raised my voice once: at a SGT who wasn't minding his AO (non-medical SGT from another unit stepping into my lane. nu-uh). Even then I felt bad, and border-line unprofessional, about it.

That was not a fun field exercise.

And given that I don't actually remember typing that comment, perhaps I should revisit my medication-situation. /s

Truth be told, I don't really even want them to go out of business. I'd be much happier if they just weren't a**-hats. No one should have to lose their lively-hood just so that they learn they have to play nice with others. c'est la vie.

I don't want them to go out of business either. In truth, while I am deeply concerned the poor woman had to go around the corner to get her hair cut...per the news story...I want people to start thinking something like this: 'You had to walk around the corner to get your bowl hair cut because the one place didn't want to cut your hair? WHY ARE YOU EVEN WASTING OUR TIME TELLING US THIS?' Stop the whining. Get your hair cut and stop playing the victim.

HA! I was thinking about that! This place muct give AWESOME haircuts if they're so exlusive they can afford to publicly humiliate themselves. Maybe I should give them a try?

She went around the corner and got her hair cut. We were not there, and do not know what was actually said...Jody, go to Great Clips, if you want to support Jody, go to Great Clips?

We are turning into such crybabies? 'They won't make a cake for me, I'm going sue them.' 'They don't allow pet in there but want my service dog...I'm going to go to the news and make them let me and my dog in.' When did we become a country of entitled douches?

Additionally, I have a LOT of questions I would like answered about Jody...she reminds me a bunch of people I know and I would love to see her DD214.

MSG Brad Sand -The fact of the matter is, if you turn away business.....you turn away the supporters. If a business owner is a hypocritical bigot, then don't support them. Tell your friends and let them decide if they are "worth" supporting. That's the nature of business in general. "Burn enough bridges, and you're on an island." OK...you didn't sell a cake to gays, Muslims, blacks, smurfs, schizophrenics.....and then you lose the business of all the people that SUPPORT those subtypes. Next thing you know, you're selling 2 cakes a month and having to close your doors. Does that require a lawsuit? No. Does it need national attention? No.

There are SO many other ways to handle it. I disagree with the lawsuit piece...but I also am not sure about the thousands of dollars donated to the bakery as a "we are sorry for your suffering too". Just agree to disagree and move out!

Yes Sir. I think from the bakery story...and the florist...they were set up and people with an agenda were trying make their point but that is just an opinion. You are right, if someone doesn't want to serve me, I don't want to spend my money at their business.

MSG Brad Sand I can see being pissed off. I really do. I can see visitting yelp, facebook, and every bar I know and telling everyone about it. I might even hand fliers out right next to them if a business did something that offended me so terribly (can't imagine what that would be).

I just don't understand if you weren't harmed, how do you justify harming them? News spots and lawsuits seem petty.

I believe there can be extremes where these tactics could be justified, but no way being denied a haircut is among them.

Clear cut violation of the ADA. Coupled with the salon owner's refusal to explain the situation makes their side (salon's) of the story very suspect. I hope everyone in that area boycotts that salon and they end up paying out the wazoo to our sister in arms for their violation.
