I'm a proud guy, it pains me to do this but, SSgt (Join to see) recommended I set this up as a last resort. As some of you may have seen me lamenting, I recently lost my job at Whole Foods because I was late for a store meeting, aka pep rally, while I was a probationary employee. My wife doesn't make that much and the State of Texas hasn't decided whether or not they will pay me unemployment after 3.5 weeks. I'm currently 8 days late on my rent and about to be evicted. I've tried numerous Veteran's Charities, but apparently I'm not Veteran enough. I got out 11 years ago and don't have a campaign medal. So, my service doesn't count I guess. Anyway, as SSG Olson suggested, I've set up this fundraiser. If you can help, great and I'll be eternally grateful. If not, no worries.

Advice is a poor substitute for money but it's all I have to offer. You have to get back to work and the best way of doing that in this economy is by networking. As a veteran (and yes, you are a veteran) you can find many resources for meeting up with other veterans in your community. I suggest that you begin with the American Legion. Inasmuch as I don't live in your community, I can't help much more than that. Best wishes and keep the faith...

There is no doubt about that CPT Jack Durish. I'm actually headed to my local American Legion post today. I'm networking through this site and Warrior Pointe, and I'm going to a veteran's focused job fair tomorrow. I'm doing everything I can, which makes my situation all the more frustrating. But, thanks for the sentiment and I will keep the faith. I'm a survivor and I won't let my wife down.

Organize yourself. Put into priority order what you need to accomplish and how you'll go about doing it. If there are items that assistance will improve - ASK. Tackle what you can and stay busy doing what you need to do to solve the problem.
Stay positive and continue to keep in touch. I may be wrong but I do not perceive that you're looking to accept charity so on a technical point your tag is inaccurate ... that said, guidance may have been a better selection. You do have to accept the good and the bad when you open this type of discussion so realize there may be some who respond tersely. It is the end results that count.
