There is a difference between taking a legal deferment and dodging the draft. Even during the lottery, the attempt to remedy the glaring fact that if you had money and could afford to go to school, you were effectively exempt from the draft, the percentage of eligible people drafted was pretty damn small. During the peak of Vietnam, about 25 percent of the Forces were Draftees, verses 66 percent during WWII. That percentage went down drastically after 1968. Of the 26,800,000 men eligible for the draft between 1964 and 1973, 2,215,000 were drafted, although your chances were slightly higher between 1967-1970. So if you did nothing and were physically able to serve, the chance of being drafted during Vietnam was less than 1 in 10.<br />My lottery number was 160. I believe I was in the last group even classified and assigned lottery numbers. While it is true McCain was a POW, he dumped the wife that patiently waited for his captivity to end for someone that was very rich and whom he could use to propel him into elective office. Also, McCain very two faced and double dealing in his Senate Career. McCains family suffers from a bad case of entitlement based on his service record.........yet others with a more impressive service record are humble and accept what they have. Trump while also born into a family of privelege lost a close brother to Alcholism ad suicide and still carries that burden today. Trump could have followed his older brother into a life of addiction but didn&#39;t. Trump definitely raised his kids better than McCain did. Former wife says so as well which is also high praise. On the other hand Trump does not know when to shut up or keep quiet and comes across as very arrogant. Hard to say, I&#39;d call it a draw.
