True story. They assert the sailor is not law enforcement, reason being the Waffle House is not on military base. They threw him out for no gun policy.

Well according to this story just about every one at this joint had a gun. Resulted in the death of an LEO - shot in the back.

It appears to be true, even MSN is carrying the News. Waffle House has a Strict No Guns Policy. I understand they don't want to deal with the Courts and getting sued if and when a firearm incident occurs, They don't want to pay the Higher Legal Fees, Insurance and Bond Fees.

What makes this story a bit sketchy is that it says he was armed. Armed, in uniform, off-base? I question the validity of the story.

It might be true but in this circumstance it's not discrimination. If they have a no gun policy they have to enforce that policy. If they wanted to be nice about it, they could offer to bring the food to his car or something, but realistically a gun in the car probably violates their policy too. This is only discrimination if they don't enforce the policy with other people.

From the article. "two facts have not been reported accurately that facilitated the situation with Mr. Welch. First, he was an active participant in a fight on the premises several weeks prior to September 27th. He was restrained and taken off the premises by off-duty police officers that were eating in the restaurant at the time. The second item not reported accurately was the time the most recent incident occurred, 2AM. We have associates who have to make snap decisions on our third shifts to provide for their own safety and the safety of our customers. Our associates decided because of Mr. Welch's recent altercation, which they witnessed, it was in their best interest at 2 AM to ask Mr. Welch to leave his firearm in his vehicle. Mr. Welch decided to leave."

At 2am given that knowledge I would expect my staff to do the same thing.
