Was 9/11 avoidable, was Al Qaeda necessary, and why is the U.S. ready to confront Russia indirectly through middlemen?

The U.S. didn't need to confront the Soviet Union in a regional conflict that had every indicator pointing towards a fanatic religious uprising after the conflict.

The U.S. didn't need to train the Taliban in the Torah Borah or allow Al Qaeda entry into Afghanistan. Afghanistan is land-locked, so without Iran and Pakistan the Soviets couldn't reach the Gulf.

Why did the U.S. lie of WMD in Iraq?

Who says that the learning curve in the U.S. is not on track Chip?

I am a U.S. citizen and a Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces, and I didn't comprehend our cause for involvement in a regional conflict, till I investigated that conflict carefully and superimposed our presence on the overlay. In the end, I was left with the question of could the U.S. have avoided that regional conflict and saved our Universe the horror of 9/11?

I am still learning and I am requesting your assistance in isolating a palatable solution to my question.

We did not lie about WMD in Iraq they were there read your history and just look at how many of our soldiers are dying now from the effects. I know several MPs who went into these bunkers that are now blind have shin disorders some have died from leukemia and worst. It takes one small drop of a agent to kill 100K people One Drop and i am not even a NBC NCO. I was not here i was in africa during this period.

If you also read history Torah Borah was the Headquarters of all the group that called themselves Taliban, remember that they change their group and name each time it gives them some more news . Even good old Bin laden the grandfather of the Al Qaeda, said we had him in there if we had just gone a little further into the caves. It was a good kill a good mission. I was not there but have spoke with many of the folks who were there.

911 could have been avoided. A FBI agent noticed the Muslims want to learn to land the planes, but not take off. He went to his supervisor but the supervisor refused to act or even send it forward. The FBI knew but did nothing.

The US supporting the Mujahideen in Afghanistan in the 80's was following the Cold War policy of containment of Communism as well as poking the Soviets back in the eye for their behind the scenes activity in Korea and Vietnam.

Why did the US lie about WMD in Iraq? To my understanding it was a massive intelligence failure spread across multiple agencies from multiple countries. To say there was never WMDs in Iraq would be incorrect as we all know WMDs were used against the Kurds. The question is did he blow his stockpile then, or were they moved out of the country during or post Desert Storm to Syria or Iran. For what it's worth I saw a documentary a couple years ago that had an Iraqi that was supposedly part of group that was working on WMDs for Saddam. He claimed that their results were less than impressive but hid that from Saddam out of fear of winding up in a wood chipper. Instead they led Saddam and his inner circle to believe it was full steam ahead.

Bill Clinton had a number of opportunities to prevent 9/11 from happening. The US and Russia have been going at it since WW2 through middle men. Just about every conflict the two countries have been involved in since WW2 one side was backing the opposition of the other.

And America has been fighting proxy wars with the Reds since 5 minutes after WWII ended. The "why" comes down to strategic advantage.

The Taliban was created & trained by Pakistans ISI. Mullah Omar welcomed Al Qaeda into Afghanistan...

Being those two premises are false in your biased question, why should any of it be taken seriouslt?
