While many of Donald Trump's statements are over the top, is he onto something? Do you agree with his overall statement of stopping all immigration of Muslims?

"An illegal immigrant from the United Arab Emirates was recently arrested in Florida and charged with unlawfully possessing ammunition, a charge that could result in up to 10 years in federal prison and automatic deportation.

According to Breitbart, the United States Attorney Office for the Middle District of Florida recently announced the charges against 25-year-old Hamid Mohamed Ahmed Ali Rehaif, who was found living in a hotel in Melbourne.

Rehaif had been living out of the hotel for at least the past 53 days, checking in and out on a daily basis, spending more than $11,000 in cash for the various room fees.

Rehaif also admitted to investigators that he had been in possession of several firearms, a felony offense for an illegal immigrant, but claimed to have recently sold or otherwise disposed of the weapons.

However, the U.S. Attorney’s Office stated in a press release: “Agents located rounds of handgun and rifle ammunition in his hotel room and in a storage unit that he had rented, but they did not locate any firearms.”

It was not immediately clear where those firearms were.

Rehaif was originally admitted into the country on a student visa in 2013 and enrolled at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne

However, he had been dismissed from the school in the fall of 2014. When he failed to leave the country within 30 days after ceasing to be a student, he became an illegal immigrant.

Why Rehaif was still in America, his religion, what he was doing with the weapons and ammunition he had possessed, if he had connections with other illegal immigrants or radical Islamists, and what their plans for the future might have been, were either unknown to or not disclosed by investigators.

Stories like this lend credence to the proposals put forth by Donald Trump and others calling for a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigration — or, better yet, all immigration — until our government can sort out the mess of unknown illegals and security threats already here."

It is NOT racism. National security trumps the feelings of NON-US CITIZENS. There is no right to a fair trial, there is no freedom of speech, there is no right to bear arms, and there is no pleading the 5th. Automatically sent back to where you came from.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig, although I also find many of Mr. Trump's statements to be somewhat grandiose, I believe that his call for the halt of immigration of Muslims, "until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on", is not too far off base.

I'm sure Trump and his followers will use this to further push just such as agenda, but I do not. I see one individual breaking the law who may or may not be a Muslim.

Even if it is later revealed that this individual is a Muslim, I will not change my mind. Seriously, let's think about this, REALLY think about this for a minute. If we're going to lock people up because of their religion, then we need to lock up all the Christians because of all the attacks they have carried out on abortion clinics. It is NOT the RELIGION that is the problem, it is those few ultraconservative FOLLOWERS of that religion who are the problem.

Such an idea spouted by Mr. Trump goes against everything this country stands for. This country was founded by people seeking religious freedom, and now we're just going to ignore everything we stand for?!

No way. IF by some strange reason this close-minded bigot is elected our next President, I will resign from the Army and move to Canada, because this will no longer be the country I swore to defend.

It's more complex than "was he correct or incorrect?"

It falls into the "grains of truth" category which all the politicians have. I'd hazard if we applied that concept to most of the candidates' Philosophies regarding the Key Issues, we would find they are "correct" in some ways. However that doesn't mean they are not also incorrect at the same time.

In this particular case, apply statistics & demographics, and you end up with risk groups.

Most Terrorists are going to be Muslim. However 1/3 the population of the world is Muslim so this isn't really that surprising. That's why we have to clarify that with "Radicalized Muslim."

Nearly all Terrorist are Men (usually between 18-25). This however is also not unusual, it's a LARGE segment (probably about 6-7%~).

So what we look for is what an insurance underwriter would look for. Does a specific person have 3+ "qualities" which place them in a high risk group. Our example above does. Now does that justify not "issuing a policy" (Vetting)? That's much trickier.

Now, when you start removing "qualities" like Gender, and Age from the equation, that can remove someone from that High Risk group, just like it does from Auto Insurance. As an example, 16-25 Unmarried Males pay a premium for Auto Insurance, especially on high performance cars. However 16-25 Females pay a Lower Rate (comparatively) because they are a Lower Risk. They just don't get into as many accidents (statistically).

Therefore banning "All Muslims" doesn't make sense, when it is a specific demographic that is the Highest Risk. We're not worried (as much) about Women & Children as we are about 18-25 year old Unmarried Males. Those are High Risk people, and deserve additional scrutiny... however whether or not "banning" is justified... that jumps into Constitutional issues, however we are not obligated to allow anyone in.. but banning someone for Religious reasons on it's face violates both 1a and the Spirit of the "No Religious Test Clause."

One question. Why is he still here. How does one have sufficient income to spend this kind of cash, when they are illegal and there are laws against hiring them. Yes, Trump is right. Until we come up with some means of tracking those already here due to VISA overstays and on the watch list, we should have a pause in those wanting to come to America to avoid persecution or for any other reason that can be used. Absurd that anyone would come to his defense. IMV any Congressman or administration official pushing the program as it exists should have to permit then ALL to relocate to their districts or area of residence.

I do not thoroughly concur with all of Donald Trumps statements about restricting and monitoring muslims CSM Michael J. Uhlig. I do think that our national security trumps [pun intended] the "rights" of anybody to be a refugee or mandates that refugees should be brought here versus somewhere else.
I would hope that all Syrian refugees would be accepted in nations close to Syria - Christians to Armenia, Druze to Lebanon, Shia to Iran, Sunni to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, UAE, etc.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig I find it interesting that most who are against to Mr. Trump's comment feel that immigration to this country is a right, that there should be no vetting, and no checking.
