We're sending troops to train Ukraine's forces. Our relationship with Russia is already strained. How do you think this one plays out?

How does it play out?
1) the 600 troops won't be enough
2) we'll ask for more troops. Congress won't support it and the American people will be in opposition.
3) Congress will handicap the president with limited scope operations authorization.
4) we'll piecemeal operations in Ukraine and against ISIS in Iraq/Syria. Won't have any real results from either fight.
5) Long term- Russia will take eventually back Ukraine and once again become our main adversary.

Safe bet. You are setting yourself up to be happily surprised if wrong, but not disappointed if you're correct.

Sounds like just enough commitment to pretend you're doing some good, but not so much as to kick the bear. I do believe that is what's called "politics".
