The Navy tends to see a lot of non-war deployments.

I was in during the Desert Shield/Storm years, but comfortably stationed in Scotland. On the other hand, I was involved in combat operations for Operation Noble Obelisk, a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation (NEO), which wasn't even close to a war as far as the US was concerned.

Operation United Shield (Somalia, 1995). It wasn't part of a war but my unit (3/7 Kilo) was part of the 31st MEU when the UN decided to pull out so we were tasked with closing the door after everyone else left.

Yes, Operation Iraqi Freedom II, from February 14th, 2004 to February 18th, 2005. Most of my Brigade (3rd BCT, 1st ID) operated out of FOB Warhorse, while my Battalion (2nd BN, 2nd IN REGT) operated out of FOB Normandy. I also had a KFOR peacekeeping deployment to Albania from April 27th, 1999 to June 11th, 1999 with Task Force Hawk in support of Operation Noble Anvil. We moved directly into Kosovo on June 12th, 1999 until July 31st, 1999. Both of my deployments happened out of Germany.
