Were you ever involved, however peripherally, in a major world event?

I was stationed at Yokota AFB during the Tienanmen Square massacre. While the government was debating ordering all Americans to leave China, they decided that their first stop would be Yokota if that came to pass. It never did, but myself and every other sub-E-6 on the base (ok not literally, but there were a LOT of us) were pressed into service setting up thousands of cots in aircraft hangers....and then taking them down again when it didn't happen.
For the purposes of this thread, and since nearly everybody can claim the two current wars, I'm looking for specific, single incidents.
So, how about you?

I spent 18 years as a proud participant of Operation Green Weenie. It started for me personally at 39th AG (reception) at Ft. McClellan, AL and ended for me in 1st IO CMD, June 2012. While in this Operation rank wasn't an option, everyone got it, and passed it on higher or lower. It wasn't classified and can be found on Hillary's Server. It was monumental because it's the only time in Military History no one filed an EO complaint about being screwed over. You just waited your turn; it's coming. Other common names for this Op were Operation Blue Falcon, Operation Sham Shield, Operation Hide from 1SG, and Operation 4856.

SSG Warren Swan - Chalk it up to young and dumb. But believe me, after that, I had all the respect required lol. Written in blood. Literally.

SN Greg Wright - Bro at least now you can look back at it and laugh. When you can't laugh anymore, something's wrong.

SSG Warren Swan - I do, I do. My biggest regret is never crossing again (as a Shellback, now) and getting to teach OTHERS some respect lol.

I was on a ship that was one of the first to shoot the Tomahawk missiles into the Iraqi presidential palace to begin OIF on March 20, 2003.
