Not that high of a dose. 600-800 total is tops and 2400 is malpractice. At that level, your liver gets real upset.

nope ... try my best to stay away from it. I heard it is not good for your heart ... heart failure may happen even if you and your family have no history of it (with Ibuprofen).

It's the basic level 1 treatment; that's why there's the "bin o' Motrin" at the TMP.

Knee hurts? 800mg Motrin
Headache? 800mg Motrin
Appendicitis? 800mg Motrin
Arm blown off? Tourniquet and 800mg Motrin
And so on...

I broke my hand when I was in the Navy - prescribed 800mg Motrin. We had a running joke that HM stood for "Here's Motrin" when I was in the Navy. In the Army - it's no different. I wonder if that's the reason why a lot of us avoid going to sick call - because it's a labyrinth just to see the right professional provider and get the proper help sometimes.

Our doc always had plenty of penicillin and codeine. Or, he would tell us to pull up a chair and have a cold one on him. (They were free anyway) I don't guess Motrin was around back then. It was always a handful of aspirin, 1stSgt Private RallyPoint Member.

"Ranger Candy" was what we called it. I was told I could take up to 3200mg before there were issues. I tested that theory more than once. I'd pop 2 or 3 BEFORE I needed them just to get in front of what I knew was coming. haha

I think it is more fitting to ask, "Were you ever NOT on 800mg ibuprofen?" :)

I just had surgery. In addition to the strong stuff, they prescribed me Ranger Candy. The nurse handed me the horse pill and started to advise me on the "best way to take a larger pill like this...". She didn't even get the first syllable out and I downed two with a drop of water. Due to Tampa General's proximity to MacDill, she must have seen this before... She said, "Military?" :)

As a young LT I had to do an investigation of the death of an airman. He hurt his back while cutting down a tree. He drank 2 martini's and took a double dose of darvon. The doc said it was the equivalent of 20 drinks OR 20 darvon.

Don't mix meds and alcohol.

Been out 25 years , still gotta a script. Though it might be V.A. can't tell, writing is gone.
Now my motrin is in Vicoprofen. Which the VA doesn't carry.

I suggest anyone here who is a vet and takes Norco for pain be VERY careful, if you drink. Tylenol is dangerous, more so with alcohol. I have my suspicion Tylenol would be pulled off the market because of it is poisonous to the liver, if not for the potential liability results.

Motrin can cause stomach problem so if you are having issue with those 800 mg Motrins , break them in half and take a half. If you stll have problem stop taking them and get something else.

It's the only thing that can get me through a hump. Considering I'm only 5'4 and carrying the same weight as someone who is 6'4. Not to mention, I have to run the entire 10, 15, or 20 miles with that weight because someone who's 6'4 taking one long stride would require me to make 2 1/2 stride to catch up.

I fractured my skull and 800mg motrin kept me from getting brain damage. I had a leg broken and 800mg motrin allowed me to complete a 100 mile ruck march. I was blinded by looking at nuclear flashes and 800mg motrin restored my sight. I was struck by lightning and 800mg motrin soothed my burns. After taking 800 mg motrin for 20 years, I was able to speak 7 foreign languages, had an IQ of 200, and became impervious to small arms fire. I used to need a running start to leap small buildings with a single bound, but then I got my 800mg motrin prescription refilled. Motrin has been solving all of the military's medical emergencies since that garbage was invented. Congress MUST be receiving a share from all the kickbacks to keep those white horse tablets on the shelves.

I once ran a PFT with 1600mg of Motrin on an empty stomach. When that didn't seem to help my knee or my back, I went in and asked the docs what they had that was stronger than Motrin. I think they freaked a little when I told them what I did (I was a Marine on an Air Force base), and they must have taken me seriously because they put me on narcoids after that.

Real definition of HM = Here's Motrin.
I remember the first time I took it, after I had my wisdom teeth extracted. I was feeling no pain. Now 800mg Motrin is candy.

Standard Issue when I was an 0311! A fellow marine sprained his ankle on a night road march bad enough that he ate the ground. The Corpsman comes over and checks him. Here take this (Motrin) and this (water). You should be good to go.

Yes. I remember they gave me 800 milligram Motrin when they yanked a wisdom tooth. I was stationed in Korea and on the Train ride back to my duty station the locals where off and my face starts to swell. One of the locals becomes concerned talks to a train conductor and he gets me a Tylenol 3 they had on the train. I was never more thankful for that.
