One has to wonder how this group could make a request of the public that itself has been unwilling to fulfill for others. Another example of our society in decline; I'm entitled to what I want, but you are not entitled to the same thing.

While I do not agree with what they did, I personnally would not do this to them, however I would not look down on or advise anyone not to, the Constitution, which they stated and fought in court and won entitles people to picket therefore I would not see any obligation for anyone who was disserviced by these people to not retaliate. I will not make a special trip for him, let him rot.

Is the statement hypocritical - yes. We learned a long time ago from grandparents who had endured many tragedies that treating others the way you want to be treated regardless of how they treat you is the best way to go. I do not like the tactics this group used to get their attention, but I would not choose to follow in their footsteps to be labeled 'like them' because I decided to 'act' as they did. I'll take the higher road, keep my values, & be a better person. I do not believe this group will learn anything from the event, but I suppose there is always a glimmer of hope that someone will. Besides, as the military, we've always been the strongest and stand the tallest in spite of what we're up against.

this makes me beyond sick, the fact that they have asked the public not to Pickett his funeral after all they have done and saying that people should have some decency and respect for his family and friends when they clearly don't do that for others I won't put on here my hatred for there kind I'm sure others feel the same way whether you have served or not

As a current member of the Patriot Guard Riders, an organization to formed to block their attempts to protest military, and public service employees funerals (police, fire, and rescue), I think their request is kind of ridiculous considering what they do on a regular basis. However, I will also not stoop to their level and attempt to disrupt any funeral.

Irony and Hypocrisy on public display! The last paragraph in the write up makes me want to pray for these people. Lord have mercy on their soul they must be stupid, gullible and naive as an infant.

The cynic in me says there is a special place in hell for Westboro former leader and the followers he led astray, but they have 1st Amendment protection, can't protect people from stupid.

This group picketed our for MIA from early in the OEF, Matt Maupin's family and funeral in Cincinnati but for the thousands and thousands of Patriot Guard Riders blocking these idiots from disrupting the funeral activities. I was one of the escort officers for then Army Chief of Staff Lt Gen (Ret.) John (Jim) Campbell who was escorting the remains and with the family.
There were people lined up for tens of miles for Matt Maupin and his family. I couldn't believe the public outpouring of support that day to bury that soldiers remains. What a great city and people Cincinnati and all the groups involved were that day. I will never forget it.
I am so thankful for the 10,000s of good people that make the few Westboro folks look like the tools they are.
