What activities are available for single soldiers at Fort Hood and what are the barracks like?

I’m going to Fort Hood in 30 days.I just wanted to know how it’s like over there,and what activities are available as a single soldier,if anyone is in 69 ADA Brigade please tell me how the barracks look like.

The best thing to do is go to the Ft Hood home page, you can find a lot of the answers there (Hood.army.mil)

PFC Albarran,

First, get away from Bell County. There are things to do there, but there's a lot more to Central Texas. Marble Falls is great, Longhorn Caverns, there's a huge state park out that way (forget the name) that's great for hiking and camping, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and so on.

But, within the greater Hood area, Belton Lake, Chalk Ridge Falls park, Stillhouse lake, etc. Lots of hiking, fishing, trail riding (both horses and bikes), hunting, etc.

If you are of drinking age and are inclined to get turnt up, 6th Street in Austin seems to be the place. I don't engage in that type of activity, so I can only speak from what I've heard.

Lastly, and this is a bit silly, but it works. Check out the Diners, Drive-ins, and, Dives website, see where Guy Fieri has been in the area, and do some food tourism. You won't be disappointed. The Green Mesquite in Austin will get you started. And there's a place in Marble Falls that makes a chocolate pie that'll have you second guessing mom. Lol

Places I remember:
Longhorn Cavern = Great Adventure
Austin = 8 street x party time
New Braunfels = Yuge (not just huge) but immense water park
San Marcos = Huge outlet stores
San Antonio = Sea World, El Alamo, Riverwalk
Temple = ..... cheaper storage units than in Fort Hood
Dallas = Where JFK died
Arlington = football stadium
Dallas-Forthworth = international airport
PS: watch your speed and/or have your ID at all times, Texas State Troopers are no joke.

Fishing and hunting is OK.
You are an hour from Austin that's where most party 6th Street specificly.
For adult entertainment I recommend Dollhouse in Killeen good drink specials and you can smove inside always a plus.
The boss program here always has good events going on for single Joes.

I will say this... follow your damn safety brief that sits no joke here.
Also stay away from rancier after dark.

Woo, boy you got the short end of the stick. Im gonna tell you this, if you want anything fun got get the hell out of bell county. Everyone is in Austin and Dallas on the weekend so don’t be surprised if you see your leadership full on shitfaced at the same bar you are at. Like WO1 Parker said, google is your best friend.
