What advice do you have on topics to study before attending the Army Basic Leader Course?

I leave for BLC in about a month, I have my folder with all required documentation complete, and the course overview. Just passed my diagnositc PT test (to get sent to school) with flying colors. What should I expect at BLC? Any advice on topics to study BEFORE arriving? Any advice is appreciated; I really want to set myself up for success. Thank you in advance!

Honestly, I wouldn't stress too much, you should have plenty time for learning while there. But, you could brush up on writing NCOERs and awards, overview basic infantry tactics and practice D+C. That should help.

D&C, conducting PRT, writing awards, putting together and presenting PowerPoint presentations (they will assign a topic just brush up on how to put it together and speaking to a group) land nav (if still instructed at BLC, you will take another pt test while at the school, issuing opords and fragos and carrying out those orders (basic infantry tactics) I went through in 2012 so things have probably changed some but those are the basics.

I would show up knowing the NCO creed.

Open mind and ready to learn.
It would not hurt to find a NCO guide and read the the NCO creed a couple times.
Also find out what the regiment song is where you are going. You will have to learn it. Ie.. 3ID is “Rock of the Marne”.

You will do fine. It is not like BT. This is to prepare you to be a squared away future leader.

Just brush up on your land nav brother; which should be no problem for a Combat Arms trooper.

Land nav, Battle drill one alpha, drill and ceremony, FM 7-22, how to inspect a squad sized element and how to match them, NCO Creed, how to write a memorandum for record (the right way), recommendation for award. Also, bring a good notebook ( such as a rite in the rain book - the bigger one), and one new uniform for graduation and your oral history brief. I would also recommend bringing a pillow

Conducting PT and giving marching orders, land navigation when I went through these were the biggest thing they train you on.

update. TRADOC has completely taken out all field requirements at BLC I:E Land nav, stx lanes. it is now all classroom
