I’m currently working as an embedded PT with a BCT, but I would one day like to apply to serve as a Ranger battalion PT. I can’t apply until I have 2 yrs TOS so I have a little bit of time to prep. I have a good idea of what training will be helpful in my particular career field. From a physical perspective I also know what I need to do (ruck, ruck, ruck), but what other skills should I hone before applying. I served on the enlisted side for a long time before commissioning, so I believe I have a bit of an advantage over some of my career field peers, but I am the first to admit that I am pretty rusty when it comes to tactical skills (not to mention I was not combat arms).

Well Jr. Enlisted have RIP NCO's have ROP, not sure what officers have. PT PT PT. You need to be a push-up / Sit-up / Running stud, pull-ups are a must, swimming a must, rucking and physical strength is paramount along with endure / stamina and a ranger mentality. Know your command, creed and general ranger history / tactics before going as well.

Basically get into shape like you were gong to selection.. better yet, do the SFAS training twice, and you will be set!

RIP and ROP are not a thing anymore. Not even close to a thing. SFAS AND RASP are 2 completely different animals. Sooo different.
