I completed Level 1 Combatives while I was an Active Duty SPC. It has always reflected on my ERB up until I ETS'd and transferred to the Reserves. I recently requested my unit update my ERB/ARB and found out that nothing was ever uploaded into iPERMS and I certainly don't have my original graduation certificate (literally the only thing not in my I Love Me book). How long do units keep SM files after PCS/ETS? Could I have the Combatives instructor authorize/sign another certificate? Other options?

I am having that exact same issue, from what I was told contacting every unit you were in for each cert or award is the best option. If you were out of the unit for 4 or more years(my issue) The unit sends the information to the VA or Archives where you would have to contact them for your full military record, just hope that the information is there and your old S1 did their job.

You can contact the unit/school that conducted the training and they can verify your course graduation in ATRRS and reprint a certificate for you.

SGT Carlos,

Tough spot to be in. I recommend reaching out to previous unit or school house to see if anything is on file. Not sure how long the unit holds on to a SM's file but I would assume 2-years. If all recommendations fail maybe request from your reserve unit to attend the class again. Good luck!
