I got out in 2015 and I've spoken to an air guard recruiter about possibility of joining once I finish my bachelor's next year. He said even if my medboard injury is healed, he had never seen anyone with a VA rating over 30% get in. I'm looking for other recruiters who could help me get my things in order. Would it be worth it to try to get waivers in enlisted before finishing my degree? Help!

The chance of getting in the ANG with a medical RE3 and over 30% VA disability is slim to none.

The Air National Guard deploys so what ever you where med-boarded for should not prevent you from doing your job anywhere in the world.

If you really want to fight to get into the Air National Guard, tell that recruiter to fight for a waiver. Worse comes to worse, he's going to tell you he couldn't get it and if that's the case you can always go to the Army National Guard. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT! Is there a reason you want to go air guard? I would start doing your research and looking into regulations to see what you can find. I would think Army to Army guard would be pretty easy to figure out but Army to Air would be a tad more difficult.

It's not the Army to Air Guard that's the problem. It's the RE3 code, and the 30% disability.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Its the RE 3 I got commissioned with a 50% but I was nurse corps.

1LT John Mills - I'm pretty sure that the Air Force views it differently. Perhaps it has changed, but I wouldn't count on it.
