What are some decent places to have a resume written? I found a professional but I'm not trying to pay 200-300 dollars to have one written.

Additionally, use the search bar above to search on "Resume" and you will find posts that will offer tips and advice.

Do your research on resume writing, write and edit your resume and then have folks review it.

Actually Word has a resume’ writing program. Also keep in mind resume’s should be short, concise, to the point, and job specific.
I had four resume’s for specific types of professional positions.
First thing I would suggest is to change your military training and experience into civilian marketable job skills!

There are plenty of templates out there to follow. I personally think (from a time when resumes were actually read and every word was hinged on) resumes as they were once used are irrelevant.

What is relevant are the KEY WORDS you include in your resume. I can't tell you what that is. It depends on the job. I can tell you I only seem to get jobs my resume mirrors nearly word for word in a posted job description.

Look deeply into the jobs you are most interested in, and use the reoccurring theme of those job descriptions to describe your accomplishments and credentials.

There was a time a human being would have to fawn over every resume and font, format, and style were important. At worst that human being had to go through a few hundred. Now, they might have to go through tens of thousands. Now a query is built, and a database spits out potential candidates based on key words. How those key words are presented in the form of a resume is not important enough in my mind to pay someone $300 to compose it. So just follow a professional looking example you find on the internet.

When i thought i was going to get out years before i actually did, i paid to have my resume professionally written. i dont remember how much it cost but it was a lot. i provided my OERs and the company that had a very good review rating, provided me a resume. it was pretty much copy and past of my OERs, word for word with all the military jargon and acronyms still there. i used it for a while thinking it was great. never got an interview. what i currently have is as far different that a resume can be compared to what i paid for, in fact, i would be embarrassed to use that old one that i paid for. So, as others have said, there are plenty of free services, templates, and examples. use those and tailor your resume to each job that you apply for. dont use one and think it is good for everything.

Don't pay someone to write a resume. As a hiring manager I want you to be able to tell me what you've done. If it doesn't match your resume then you won't make round 2.

You need more than one resume since they should be somewhat tailored to the job your applying for. The basics can be the same but the information should be tweaked. Unless you're going for a federal job please don't insult me by adding all the key words from the announcement into a resume. A real live HR professional reviews resumes before they make it to me and they will say "this is a word dump" as they send it over. Take what you've done in the military and translate it to civilian. I can usually translate what was said OK but not all of my peers can and resumes get overlooked when they don't speak the right language. Take the time to write cover letters that are personalized to the job - it really doesn't take more than 10 minutes when you have a template.

Write down what it is you do and have done and I'm more than happy to take a look and make sure it's demilitarized enough a hiring manager will understand it.
