<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Google “SSVF” in your local area and go talk to someone who administers it. May be the VA, but the SSVF is in place to help specifically with issues like that.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberSun, 05 May 2019 14:09:03 -04002019-05-05T14:09:03-04:00Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made May 5 at 2019 9:51 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>A couple of things to say here:<br />First - Army Emergency Relief can either grant or loan you the money in a genuine emergency. Go see them immediately.<br />Second - (and this is especially important if you are married with a family) if you are behind in your rent because money is just plain tight and you're having trouble making ends meet, it is probably going to happen repeatedly and emergency relief will be hard to get. You need to bottom out exactly why you are short and budget accordingly. If that means dropping your cable TV package and going generic on your groceries, do it. If it means finding a place that's cheaper, do it. If it means going boozeless and beerless, do it. The last thing you want is for your credit rating to bottom out because that will screw you for the next 5 to 7 years; not to mention what the leadership in your unit will make of it (and you).<br />Another note: if you are not married and have decided to live on the economy because barracks life sucks (and I know it does), pay up on your rent, then give up your off post housing and move back into the barracks until you sort out your money situation. It's nearly impossible to live off base on E-4 pay without BAS and BAQ.<br />The worst thing you can do is to write a bad check (if they even use those things anymore). It's a crime and will absolutely destroy your career.SSG Dale LondonMon, 06 May 2019 09:20:31 -04002019-05-06T09:20:31-04:00Response by PO3 Aileen Dodge made May 9 at 2019 12:01 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You should contact your Veterans Service Officer in your area. If you don't know who that is, you can call your town hall or city government offices and ask them. Or go online to your residential state's website and you should be able to find out where to get help as a veteran who is looking to prevent his homelessness!PO3 Aileen DodgeThu, 09 May 2019 12:01:01 -04002019-05-09T12:01:01-04:002019-05-05T14:02:43-04:00
