What are some good MCIs to take once you’ve been promoted to Corporal?

Sgt Private RallyPoint Member I do not know what is available. As a new NCO, I would take any course that deal with leadership. Listen and observe the best NCO's and SNCO's so that you can emulate their behavior. Being a good NCO will take time and you will make mistakes along the way. Good luck.

I took all the ones that had something to do with my job most don’t require a test and they look good on paper because your trying to be more proficient in your mos as far as leadership you should have taken all of those as a lance already

Take as many as you can it only helps you become more diverse and enables you to understand how important each job within the service truly is. Find a superior that will help you get to where you want to be. Avoid those that follow the montra “do as I say not as I do” those brothers and sisters of yours are the ones to keep close. They can only help you achieve whatever goals you have set for yourself because they’re willing to take the time to teach you that we are all in this together. I was fortunate enough to have a Gunny, several Ssgt’s and sgt’s that pushed me to become better by learning as much as possible but at the same time weren’t to good to get down in the dirt with the rest of us. That only gained my respect which in turn, allowed me to trust them. And they always told me that whatever your goals are that you want to achieve? You can never stop learning. Find every MCI you can possibly can & never stop learning, even if that may be from your mistakes. Thank you for your service

once found all the ones covering your job, cover leadership , then anything covering situations,on todays' topics terrorism , safety/security etc. do not neglect the commandants required reading list ! max out as best you can on everything , while others go out and mess around , you learn , you get SGT !! :) MY SON made Sgt almost 3yrs to the day of going to bootcamp ! , i did in 2.5 yrs , but, i was prior service , so i taught him to avoind my mistakes !! lol he did very well.

Most of the courses I took were ones that helped me in my MOS. Although that was 30 years ago and SO much as changed I also tried to branch off into courses that helped me be more productive and valuable to my unit as well as helped me towards my degree. (MBA)

Do your 8000 series. They all count as individual MCIs and it sets you up for staff sergeant.

Take the ones you would want your junior Marines to take. Take MCIs often, that way you are leading by example when you counsel your Marines and tell them to do more MCIs.

Join a Toaatmasters club too. It will look good for promotion purposes. View it as a supplemental benefit.
